Birding on Lakhimpur Kheri- Nanpara Road (22nd October 2012)


On 22nd October, i traveled on road from Lakhimpur kheri to Nanpara (Bahraich). On the road side their are numerous wetlands. recent flooding in the rivers of Sharda and Ghaghra has also created patches along the rivers and roads, attracting birds to it. The highlight of the trip was spotting of nearly threatened River Lapwing near Ghaghra river. road condition is very good and one can just stop the road and watch beautiful birds.

Following birds were spotted during this trip-

Asian Openbill- numerous asian openbill were spotted all along with road including one with kid
black winged stilt
Sarus crane
Cormorants
Red wattled lapwings
Great egret
River lapwings
Red naped ibis
Pied kingfisher
Woolly necked stork
Sarus crane
sandpiper
