Wall paintings of Orchcha Palace , Near Jhansi


The lively wall and ceiling paintings have been used by the kings of Orchcha to decorate the Rajmahal. These paintings are around 400-500 old. though paintings are quite old, yet these are very colorful and still shines too lot. The paintings reflects the unique style and this school of painting came up along with other regional schools of paintings. This school of miniature painting is referred as bundela school of paintings.

The entrance of Rajmahal welcomes you with the detailed ceiling of carpet like paintings and walls decorated with the flowers and birds. The rooms of the palace are decorated with the scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. some painting depicts the role of queens and scenes from the battle.
