Nainital: Lake District of India

270 KM from delhi: Ideally loctaed for 3 day holiday from Delhi

I started my journey from Delhi on 20 August 2011 at 12 PM. Since this trip was not plan and decision to travel to Nainital was taken only in morning.

The road is now excellent and it took hardly 2 hours to reach moradabad. Once we reached Moradabad, we discovered that road to bilaspur/rampur was closed due to flood. Thus it was decided to reach nainital via Kashipur. The mai road to Kashipur was also washed away so we took a road from dalpatpur, aliganj to Kashipur. It was already 6:30 PM when we reached Kashipur. The road from highway till the aliganj is very bad, and i was not able to drive above 20 KM/H

Now our destination, Nainital was only around 86 KM via Kaladhungi. The road via kaladhungi passes through Jungle (comes under Corbett National Park). one person in Bazpur adviced us to not to stop vehicle even if someone asks in the jungle. so i was feeling differently when driving through the jungle. The smooth , straight road, passing through jungle, and there was no vehicle in sight. My family members were scared and were asking why not u fillowed some other route. But i believe it added some excitement in the road journey.

Climb starts after kaladhungi, and there were clouds we are cutting through. The driving was pleasure. we recahed nainital in the night around 9:30 PM. We took hotel on the Mall road and after some time left for dinner. The mall road is dotted with the restaurants , gift shops and woolen shops.

The beauty of Nainital is in the mall road along the lake. You can stroll along with the lake , enjoying ice-cream and snacks.

21st August 2011:we got ready early in the morning and took a round of lakes. Then we moved to hotel new Ashok for the breakfast.  and then we moved to Tibetain market for shopping. Adjacent to the Naini temple, there is factory outlet of candle art. One can buy beautiful candles, scented candles and othe candle art works from this shop. Though there are enumerable shops on mall road, tibetian market selling candles.

The main attrcations in the nainital are ropeway (Rs 150 pera head both way), boating in the Nainital lake (Rs 160 for full round and 110 for half round), Temple of naina devi ( It is called nainital becuase of it), Snow view point (The ropeway takes you there), Lovers Point, tiffin Top), View of surkha Tal, Khurpa Tal. One can hire a local taxi for touring the lakes like – naukuchiya Tal, Bhimtal, sattal, khurpa Tal, etc

The Naini lake loks excellent in night when all the lighted mountains reflect into it.

The  nainital lake view from the ropeway is like pearl in the mountains-
